Thoughts at 4 a.m.
It is now nearly 4 in the morning and Smartbrain is still emailing
out pictures to themediaslut who, Smartbrain do hope, will post them when
she wakes up.
Thailand now heads into a period of political
turmoil.
In case you haven’t read the news, all the opposition parties
in the previous parliament have declared that they will boycott the
upcoming election and have said that the problem is Prime Minister
Thaksin Shinawatra himself.
Smartbrain was almost crushed today
when the human wall moved towards Democracy monument. "You’re not
getting though into the inner circle", the ruffian said as Smartbrain,
along with many others, were almost crushed and pushed to the ground.
"I’m not trying to get through", was the reply. "The perimeter moved and I had nowhere to go!".
Still, minor scruffles aside, the pictures tonight were definitely worth it.
The
organisers of the event say there will be a low-key vigil until the
5th, so TMS will probably not have any major updates until then.
Smartbrain may post a few analysis and opinion pieces in the meantime.
One
thing that must be said, the people here were not definitely of the
middle to upper middle class.
Directors of government agencies and of
major IT multinationals which shall forever remain nameless attended.
Most of the actors in the Chinese Play yesterday are former activists
and today are millionaire businessmen, reunited for one purpose.
Thaksin
gambled on the election to silence opposition.
He said that if he was
voted back then all dissent - including allegations of corruption and
concealment of assets - must stop.
Today it looks like the move
may not have been the best one.
The next few days will tell and history
will, one way or the other, be written.
Smartbrain now goes go
bed with a quote from George Washington in mind. ‘If you call a tail a
leg, then how many legs does a dog have?"
The answer is four.
Calling a tail a leg does not make it one.
Definitely a thought that
has many applications in today’s turmultuous political scene.
Good night.
It’s a dog life - But somebody has to post the pics for posterity and there are people reading the site too..
