Nuffnang Web2.0 company respond Corporation1.0 style

Posted in Uniquely Singapore, Web2.0 by the(new)mediaslut on the May 7th, 2008

You would expect a Web2.0 company like Nuffnang to respond when a blogger questions its services or its intentions.

But Nuffnang decided to take the Corporation1.0 route to ban one its users, Sisuahlai, for two months when he wrote a 3 parter blog post titled “Is Nuffnang working for us?”

Wrote Sisuahlai,

Thanks guys.

Is this article defamatory? How so?

*I have decided to remove the original picture depicting the “evolution of apes” followed by two Nuffnang pictures, and a fade-out image of a cartoon carrying a sack with dollar sign on it because Nuffnang interpreted it as something which I never intended it to portray. (The picture removal is not an admission of guilt, far from it - I will explain why in the next entry!)

**I intend to make public the email sent out to me because it also explains Nuffnang position regarding disclosing their payout structure. It took more than 3 SSL entries before they respond. If I see no objection of me releasing their email content, I will do so in my next entry.

If I ever worked for Nuffnang, which I won’t now, my advice to them is to respond to Sisuahlai’s post, no matter how insinuating it is.

The fact that Sisuhalai took the effort to do a 3-parter, Nuffnang should have taken the initiative to acknowledge his effort in the post and even grant Sisuhalai an interview to clear all hus doubts and questions with regards to this Web2.0 company.

Nuffnang’s blog has nothing about the temporary ban of Sisuahlai or any respond to his “defamatory” blog post.

And you would have thought Web2.0 was supposed to be two way communications between the end user and the corporation.

Companies must always remember that when a good thing happens, the person is more likely to tell it one friend. But if it was a bad experience, the person will most likely tell the whole world.

Guess for Nuffnang, old corporation habits die hard!.

Wow, to actually ban a user with no explaination given? that can’t be a good move, it’s like “nuffnang iz in teh system banning u”

Could be a manpower issue to answer to every query from consumers, but if your business is built upon such people who are using your services, you can’t ignore them, no matter what the cost.

sometimes i do find disdainful comments from consumers somewhat unreasonable, but it’s actually still a good way to know what a user’s POV is and how you can move your company ahead.. ignoring is not a good option.

Yeew…. that sucks. If Nuffnang’s idea of Web 2.0 is to treat one user unfairly and think it’s not going to have an impact, they could end up sorely wrong. C’mon Nuffnang, nuff of this.

they may be thinking SSL is not a big enuf blogger to be taken seriously since they know his site visits data as he’s a NN member. they oft forget that their community is made of mostly small bloggers.

we discussed this issue a bit b4 he posted 2nd and the last of the series, now he agrees with me how the 30% commission comes abt is not important but how they assign “band tiers” is. if i rent a house out, i would like to know how much i would be getting. being told u get diff bands each week is one thing, being inconsistently paid for the same band is another.

    btw, SSL is a HE.

@Naeboo, me was misled by SSL’s header image…

A blog advertising service bans the very people they rely on for business? Priceless. Which is not the 3-months pittance (maybe) SSL is missing out on.

Are there really so many blogs out there that want/need blog ad services like Nuffnang’s?

Are there so few blog ads services which offer the same as Nuffnang’s?

Can slutty shed some light here?
    Just Kaypo-ing.

This isn’t the first occurrence, I was also banned from Innit because of my post ‘Goodbye Nuffnang’, which in no way insulted their company. And of course no explanation was given.

Reminds me of a speech made by US President George Bush JR.

“You’re either with us, or against us!”

Apparently SSL was banned by a xxxx. *LOL*

T(New)MS: Sorry ShadowFox, I have to edit your description of Nuffnang as it is discriminatory.

This is like the proverbial shooting of the messenger (of bad news)

starting to really doubt if we should trust nuffnang. I think if this continues on, we should stop supporting nuffnang.
